Statement of Philosophy and Goals
Our goal at Grace Childcare Center is to provide a program that meets the needs of young children in settings that provide social, emotional, physical and intellectual growth. We welcome children with disabilities and from diverse racial, ethnic, economic, and ability backgrounds. Individual creative expression is encouraged and respected. We emphasize the "process" rather than a finished product.
Grace Childcare Center focuses on social and emotional development. We learn to respect the rights of others, to take turns, to follow and to lead, and to try out adult roles. The staff is composed of warm and caring teachers, giving the children an opportunity to relate to adults other than their parents.
Emotional growth is fostered by providing an environment which fosters creativity, self-direction and solving real-life problems. Your child can learn to value himself as an individual and as a member of a peer group.
There is equipment and space to develop muscles by running, jumping, climbing, and rhythmic body movements. Playing outdoors is an important part of our daily program.
Every child has the opportunity to participate in a broad range of age-appropriate activities. The classroom is divided into hands-on centers that encourage experimentation, exploration, and discovery in a secure environment. Language skills are developed through conversations, stories, games, and music. Math and science skills are developed through the use of sand and water play, blocks, tools, and cooking and an understanding of how things work.
We also provide an opportunity for cultural growth by learning to recognize the worth of each individual and the equal value of all racial and ethnic groups.
